Being aware of your flaws and vulnerabilities is a powerful first step toward overcoming them. In his song Shoot for The Moon, rapper DMX offers some of life’s best advice: Don’t ever let someone tell you/You can’t do something/Listen to me close now/And take my advice/If you want your dreams to come true. To build a better future, start by identifying what holds you back from achieving it.
3) Be Careful About Who Influences You
Social media can be great for expanding your network, but it’s also great for making you feel bad about your life when you compare it to what people post online. To stay motivated and focused on your future success, avoid people that drag you down or make you feel inadequate—it’s easy for their negativity to seep into your brain, even if they don’t say anything.
4) Stay Away From Negative People
Nothing could be more powerful than positive thoughts. Consider your circle of friends, family, and co-workers. Who inspires you? Whose energy lifts you up? Whose conversation makes you feel better about yourself? Surround yourself with these people—and avoid anyone who drags you down or brings negativity into your life. If that’s not possible, create some distance between you and anyone who’s holding you back from creating a positive future for yourself.
5) Be Honest About Your Intentions
The truth is, you’re not going to make it big by posting YouTube videos. But you also probably won’t make it big by applying to five different jobs without thinking about why you applied for each one. You can find success by being honest with yourself about your intentions—just don’t let that honesty stop you from trying your best. And remember, there are worse things than failing!
